Develop Yourself with Personal & Professional Coaching

Whether working with an executive, a middle manager, stay at home parent, an entrepreneur, a graduating senior, an MBA student… the core truth is the same: Coaching is about breaking the habits and overcoming the obstacles standing between where you are and where you want to be.

Coaching is also about seeing beyond the obvious. Buckminster Fuller wisely pointed out there is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it’s going to be a butterfly.”

What beauty is inside of you that you haven’t yet realized?

As a coach, I get to play a role that no one else gets to play for you for the simple reason that everyone else in your life… your boss, your spouse, your siblings, your kids, your pastor, your friends, your family… all have a personal and vested interest in and agenda for your life. As a coach I am truly a partner, without judgment, loaded with insatiable curiosity and wholly unencumbered with concern for protecting a relationship. Together we get to create something that can only exist by the combination of our talents and beings.

Coaching is a very personal, interactive and dynamic experience. It’s not a curriculum, it’s a process designed and grown out of your specific needs and expectations.

Consider my coaching programs below, then contact me for a no-cost, no-obligation consultation. Abraham Lincoln once said: “The best way to predict your future is to create your future.” Let’s create your future!

“I don’t know how you did it, but you did it.  In such short period of time you managed to recognize and sort out my problems…”

3-Month Transformational Coaching Program

3 month transformational program by Steven Fulmer

Change is a journey, as is life and the design of anything worthwhile. Like the creation of a new building or work of art, there are stages of conception, design, problem solving and execution followed by evaluation, refinement, rethinking and achievement. That is what this coaching program is all about.

During this program we will design precisely what you will achieve as well as work through the obstacles, changes and gremlins that show up along the way.  It’s fun and it usually ends up being one of the most rewarding steps you ever take for yourself.

We will meet once a week for 45-60 minutes, three times a month, 3 months in a row; usually over the telephone. Since most of your real growth and success will happen outside of these sessions as you step into the future you are creating, in-between the sessions I will be available via telephone and email for updates and questions, or if you just need an extra boost.

As you will quickly discover, this is a very organic and dynamic process designed to meet you where you are so we can get you to where you want to be.  It’s not a formula or a curriculum, and while I have a toolbox full of tools, lessons, exercises and programs to help you along your journey, my goal is to fit them into your needs rather than trying to stuff you into the format of my tools.

2-Hour Power Sessions

2 hour power session by Steven FulmerSometimes you don’t need to change the world, or answer the larger questions of life.  Sometimes you just need to dive deep into a specific issue, circumstance or situation and beat it up until you are clear on what to do with it and how to proceed.  That’s what the Power Session is all about.

These are an opportunity to think out-loud and be coached through the process of making powerful and effective choices and decisions.  These are single topic sessions that are resolved in one sitting.  Prior to showing up you will be guided through a short questionnaire to help you get clear on the precise question you are asking in the session, and to begin getting clear on how you will measure the success of the outcome.  Once we are clear on the objectives we can dive right in and make magic.  Many have called this my Fast & Furious program.  It’s fun, intense, direct, specific and very action oriented.

“Steven has a great gift for drawing people out. He picks up on important, unspoken nuances and as a result I always come away with new insight and understanding of myself. I feel like I am discovering me in ways that continue to surprise me!”

– Dana, Portland, Oregon

“I don’t know how you did it, but you did it.  In such short period of time you managed to recognize and sort out my problems, complete stranger.  I appreciate you for the chance to meet with you and clear some fog around me or within me.  Thank you very much for your time and willingness to help me. And you ARE the big name, now I know for sure.”

– Nadia, Portland, Oregon

“Coaching has been valuable because of its accountability. I have found the experience positive because the approach has not been to ‘fix what is wrong’ rather it has focused on how to make a good situation better.”

– Jolynn, Seattle, Washington

“Before coaching I always knew that I wanted more from my life, but I was too afraid to change it.”

– Jodi, Yakima, Washington

“To me coaching is mental fitness. Without it I don’t think I would have realized that I contain my own recipe for success – I somehow always felt that I was missing a key ingredient. My work with Steven has gotten me unstuck!”

– Erica, Eugene, Oregon

“When I contacted Steven I was confused about a significant decision. After the call I knew exactly what I wanted to do because I had gained power over the situation instead it holding power over me. Steven helped me to see the situation in ways that I could have never achieved on my own. His ability to hear truth and articulate its meaning in a way that I could not, is empowering.”

– Wayne, Yakima, Washington

“Steven has a real gift for listening deeply to a person’s unspoken story, then getting to the heart of the matter with helpful, insightful questions. His clarity and support on the journey makes all the difference in being able to take action toward a fuller life.”

– Liz, Portland, Oregon

“Prior to working with Steven I was paralyzed by the fear of the quality of my performance surrounding a new professional position I had taken. With Steve’s determination; and warm and active listening, we broke it down and peeled away the layers of my fears and concerns. We explored me as a whole person, and focused on a more truthful and genuine understanding of what I have to offer, both my job and myself. The most remarkable realization of my work with Steven was to discover that my truth and confidence was very much already within me all along, I just couldn’t see it on my own. In his inherently disarming manner, we broke down the barriers between me and me, over and over and over again.”

– Meris, Portland, Oregon

“I had a short time frame to get up to speed with a new product line at my company. With Steven’s unique teaching style, we focused on product knowledge, presentation and, most importantly, what I personally brought to the process. I was learning my individual style and developing my own personal voice instead of being taught to mimic someone else’s canned presentation. Steven’s method of teaching is very personal, insightful and built around you as an individual in such a way that I gained much more than an understanding of sales and presentation, but an understanding and clarity of my own personal happiness and purpose as well.”

– Bruce, Portland, Oregon

“I sought the help of a life coach because I felt that I did not have my life under control, and I was unhappy with several areas of my life.  I had really high expectations of myself as a mom, wife, daughter, friend, employee, etc., and instead of enjoying life, I kept trying to reach perfection in all areas.  The constant pressure to live up to my own high standards and non-stop attempts to succeed was exhausting and frustrating. I am now in my late 30s, and I finally realized that this is not something I can fix myself.

When I contacted Steven, I only knew that something wasn’t quite right with my life, and that I wasn’t where I wanted to be, or where I thought I would be at this age.  I knew that I didn’t have any major issues, but I wasn’t content and it was bothering me.  I wasn’t sure whether I would be able to communicate well what exactly I need help with; however, that concern dissolved within the first 10 minutes of our initial meeting.

Steven listened to me with genuine interest and very patiently and helped me navigate through my explanation with his to-the-point questions.  I don’t remember ever talking to a person who was not a family member or a close friend with such ease and feeling of comfort and total trust.

Steven didn’t judge me, and he didn’t tell me what to do.  He coached me to answer my own questions and to tailor the tools he gave me to my own needs.  Steven truly has a gift to communicate his passion for helping people achieve their goals through his words and actions.

Thanks to his very positive and human, yet direct approach, I was comfortable opening up during our conversations, which in return allowed Steven to come up with a detailed and efficient plan for me.

I worked with Steven for 3 months, and during that time we covered all areas of my life, even the ones I didn’t think needed attention.  As we progressed, I realized that I was not aware how much all aspects of life intertwine and influence one another.

Steven didn’t let me walk around any issues and he was not afraid to dig deep.  I had homework and we did exercises and Steven gave me many valuable tools to continue being on track even after our sessions ended.

There were moments of frustration and even tears, but at the end of it all, I felt like I have unloaded a ton of heavy rocks that I have carried with me for years.  I have been “on my own” for months now, and I am doing great. I have put the new tools to use quite a bit, and I have not once returned to the same state of mind I was dealing with on a daily basis before I worked with Steven.

What amazed me was a realization, that the circumstances and situations around me haven’t changed – what changed with Steven’s help was my perception of the world around me and the way I choose to react to it.  What a powerful skill to gain!  It has made my life so much better in the sense that I no loner allow situations to control me – I am in control of my reactions and responses.

Working with Steven has been a life-changing experience for me and one of the best investments I have made in my life.  I have recommended him to a couple of my friends, and will continue to do so.”

FAQs

Who is drawn to your coaching?

The kind of clients who have been drawn to me include:
Executives looking to be a better leader.
People struggling with that whole “work/life balance” thing.
People facing a significant life transition such as graduation, job change, promotion, marriage, retirement.
Those who simply feel lost and not sure what to do next.

What if I don’t know what my dreams or desires are?

That’s the perfect time for an LQM workshop or coaching. This work helps people see what they can not see on their own. In a way, it serves as a mirror. It’s not uncommon for people to think, “I’m not ready for a coach, I don’t even know what my dreams or desired results are.” However, thinking that you need to have all the answers before experiencing coaching is a bit like cleaning your house before the housekeeper arrives. It’s not that a coach has all the answers; it’s that the coach has the gift of perspective and an arsenal of questions. You can’t see what is in your eye from the inside; you need to look in a mirror to get an external perspective. Coaching very much serves as that mirror regarding life and living. Consider that the best athletes in the world have coaches not because the coach is better then the athlete, but because, from the outside, the coach can see things the athlete can’t see and help them refine and polish their game in ways they can’t do on their own. That’s what I do for clients in life, instead of sport.

How do you do it?

In short, there are four general steps or processes:

Increase Awareness – Quite simply; we do not know what we do not know. One of my favorite sayings is, “if you do not know where you are, you can not get where you are going.” So increasing awareness has a lot to do with consciousness, figuring out the “You are here” place on your LifeQuest Map™.

Define your Focus or Desire – This is the “where you are going” part of journey. This step is about being crystal clear on what the desire is and sometimes it can be one of the most challenging parts of the journey.

Design the Alliance – Not everyone learns the same way, and it is important for a coach to meet the client where they are before trying to inspire them to a new place. Together we will design the coaching relationship and build a structure that both meets the needs of the client, as well as stretches them into their future. It’s not about “playing it safe” it’s about “playing to win!”

Map the Plan – Think of this as the “TripTix” on the roadmap of life. It’s the plan for achieving the desired result.

How have people benefited?

The benefits have been the achievement of the client’s desired result. I have had clients go back to school when they thought they couldn’t afford it or manage it in their life; I have had clients turn frustrating jobs into places of opportunity that actually fulfill their life purpose rather than ignore it. People have re-discovered themselves, found their life mate, altered career paths for the better and found their passion and focus… In short, the common thread among all my clients is that they took control of their life in such a way that they were able to accomplish things they previously thought was beyond their reach or ability. They break the bonds of limited thinking and the obstacles that stand in their way and begin dreaming what is possible about their desires.

What about you connects you to this work?

When I graduated from college I had an emotional breakdown. All through college I was convinced I was going to “fix the world!” I was in route to be President of the United States, or so I thought. But once the reality of graduation set in and I realized that I had to actually find a job and chase the dream, I suddenly didn’t know how. I was scared and confused and although my parents were quite supportive, they didn’t have a clue as to how to help me. I didn’t need therapy, but I was completely lost. As a result, I did what most people do. I got a job; a job that feed my belly, but not my soul.

Our educational system does a phenomenal job of teaching students about subjects, what we fail to teach them about is life; how do you dream and chase those dreams responsibly? What do you do when the perfect job turns out to be not so perfect? How do you manage transition, which occurs continually throughout your life? Eleanor Roosevelt said that “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” I would like to add “the power” of their dreams and inspire people to live lives that feed their souls instead of simply holding down a job. I believe that life isn’t about making ends meet; it’s about plugging the ends together and then turning up the power and lighting up their world. I want to help people experience their life that way!

Would this make a good gift?

Yes, it’s a great gift for anyone searching for direction, purpose, clarity or empowerment, such as graduates, retirees, empty nesters or anyone facing change, transition or feeling like they have reached a dead-end.

So what do you do – really?

I change the world – every day – by inspiring people to change the way they think about their possibilities and the possibilities of those around them. In short, I promote Global Happiness.
